Sponar's Chalet - 100th Anniversary

In 1909 the Hotel Kosciusko was officially opened as a year-round tourist resort, being pivotal in refocusing winter recreation away from the Kiandra area to the higher peaks of the Snowy Mountains. There were many events between 1909 and today that helped shape the development of snow sports and the ski resort industry in NSW, but crucial to this advancement was the role Hotel Kosciusko played in those earlier years.

To celebrate the Centenary of Hotel Kosciusko and the legacy of its relationship to the snow sports industry, a special dinner is being hosted at Sponar’s Chalet on Wednesday 16 September. A three-course dinner is being served at the cost of $58 that will include canapés and drinks on arrival. A special bed and continental breakfast package for $60 a head (minimum 2 people per room) has also been arranged for those wishing to stay the night.

As part of the celebrations old photographs and memorabilia will be on display, historic movies will be screened and a special presentation will be given by Kosciusko Alpine Club historian and author Peter Southwell-Keely.
Background music will be provided by pianist John Hill.
